Mandela Washington Fellowship 2015

The Mandela Washington Fellowship merit-based competition opened on October 7th to young Africans between ages 25 and 35 years. The Young African Leaders Initiative was created in 2010 by President Barack Obama to support a growing generation of young African leaders to strengthen democratic governance, encourage growth and prosperity as well as peace and security across Africa.

The Mandela Fellowship, which was introduced in 2014, aims to admit 500 young African leaders to undertake academic coursework and leadership training. It will also create platforms in Africa for fellows to practice their new skills in key communities, organizations and countries.

This program is by the U.S. government and supported in its implementation by IREX, an international nonprofit organization providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change globally.
