Protective hair styling is key to maintaining healthy natural hair and must not be taken for granted. Regardless of which stage in the natural hair journey you are, protective hairstyles should be your go-to place for hair maintenance. We’ve highlighted three of our favorite protective hair styles for you to try.

Flat Twists

This is one of many protective hair styles for naturalistas with thick or dry hair. It is also more of a conservative style for those who work in a more corporate environment.

Crochet Braids

This option allows you to tuck away all of your hair, protecting it from the elements, while still rocking a full head of curly hair. It’s also great for all hair types. A really good inexpensive hair option for this style is the Bohemian Wave by Freetress. Before placing in hair you do need to comb/brush it out a bit so that  it looks more like a natural curl texture.

Corn Rows

The most common of them all, and perfect for all hair types and length, cornrows are a great way to repair hair damage and promote a healthy mane too.
