Tips For Moisturizing Long Natural Hair

Moisture is essential to hair health. As hair grows longer the oldest hair, that is the ends of the hair, need more and more moisture. The hair closest to the roots get most of the natural oils but not so for those thirsty ends. Here are few tips for properly moisturizing long natural hair.

1. Be sure to apply conditioners mixed with oils from roots to the very tips of hair.

2. Use fingers to smooth conditioner down the ends of the hair shaft. Do this a couple of times to assist the penetration of the oils into the cuticles.

3. Cover hair with plastic cap and let it sit for at least 20 mins

4. Directly after rinsing conditioner, squeeze extra water from hair with hands(avoid using towel) and apply more oil (olive or coconut mixed with other essential oils) from roots to ends.

5. Style as usual

Note: Skip the final step if you plan on blowing hair straight. Instead use a smoothing cream like Kerastase’s Oleo-Relax or Joico’s Smoothing Balm
