Fashion Forward Women Who Have Skipped The Traditional Wedding Dress

[gallery_bank type=”images” format=”thumbnail” title=”true” desc=”false” responsive=”true” display=”all” sort_by=”sort_order” animation_effect=”” album_title=”false” album_id=”2″] A wedding is a special moment when every woman gets to express her unique sense of style. We’re seeing this exhibited in choice of clothing, decor, bridal party, music and even food. In recent years, celebrities like Solange Knowles have led the pack in making bold fashion statements with unique bridal wear. The Grammy Award-winning “Cranes In The Sky” singer wore a beautiful ivory jumpsuit for her wedding. Fashion icon Olivia Palermo also did the “unthinkable” in bridal wear history by wearing a cream cashmere sweater and white shorts with a full white skirt tulle made of satin and silk slit very high in front. We on this side of the world are beyond proud to say that our very own Creative Director, Abena Annan, recently kicked off the style trend in Ghana and has now joined the few fashion forward women who have made bold fashion statements on their wedding day.

In image five, as the bride and her father wait for their signal to start walking to meet the groom, we see detailing of the back of the bustier and a beautiful display of the skirt train draped softly to the ground.

And that fascinator seals the vintage look! We love the bride’s beautifully made-up natural look (click on image four to see details) which complimented the matte cherry blossom lipstick very well. Oh, and those pearl and gold vintage earrings!

In image six, Abena struts her stunning outfit in metallic gold stilettos by Schultz while husband, Eke, rocks an ivory suit with a touch of red after they were pronounced “husband and wife”.

Solange and beau; Olivia and beau; Abena and beau – these three brides and their grooms have made fashion statements that have left the rest of us wondering what we’ll do when it’s our turn.

Love and fashion on point!
