Elizabeth Akua-Nyarko Patterson

When a girl child is educated and becomes a career woman in the future, she can also support her nation and other countries around the world.

Elizabeth Akua-Nyarko Patterson is the founder and executive director of Girls Education Initiative of Ghana (GEIG), a non-profit that provides financial and academic support to girls including those with special needs; this is to ensure that they gain access to education beyond secondary education.

In April, she was announced winner of the third annual Vlisco Women’s Month campaign, becoming a 2015 Vlisco ambassador for the popular Dutch brand. Her win, combined with her amazing contribution to girl child education in Ghana, automatically moves her into Obaasema status. Elizabeth, we say ayekoo!
