Carrying Your Faith in a Bag

Posted by admin on Aug 24, 2009 in Uncategorized

For many women of faith, there is a major struggle with sharing the good news. For some of us, the issue simply stems from indifference. For others, there is a desire to share one’s faith, but fear of rejection may hold us back. This issue is even more magnified for those who attend public schools, where believers may feel alone or lack sufficient support system to carry them through hard times.

Many people, both men and women, are silent about their beliefs due to mere nonchalance or fear of rebuff. We place our faith in a bag so that people cannot tell what it is when they look at it. We fear that if others identify it, they may judge or view us differently.

Although very difficult many, including myself, have found that the best way to share one’s faith is to live it. People would rather see a message lived out than preached. When we go shopping, are we most proud when we carry our new clothes in the shopping bag or when we wear it? We should wear our faith with pride, as though it were beautiful new clothes.

Living out your faith naturally communicates your virtues to everyone you meet. After all, as an ideal woman, it is important to be an excellent beacon of light to those around you. This not only causes you to become a blessing to others but you experience that yourself!

Peace in the Midst of Chaos

Posted by admin on Aug 18, 2009 in Uncategorized

This time of year is very hectic for most college students. It seems as though there is so much to do, but so little time to accomplish it all. While some students prepare to be college freshmen, others get ready to return. But whichever category you fall into the preparation involves several to-do-lists as well as other planning to transition back into college life. Personally, trying to get ready for school is no joke. It is almost as though the more things I need to do in a day, the less time there is to finish. It is important, however, that in the midst of all the craziness you find some time to take it easy and relax.

There are some tips, I have found to be helpful, in limiting the back-to-school chaos: eliminate procrastination, create to-do-lists, set daily goals and maintain constant optimism.

The sooner you start your preparations the better. Do not wait until the last minute to get things done. Each day you can set aside some time to do things related to preparing for school. As you progress in the planning, cross items off your to-do-list.

It is possible to attain peace during such chaotic periods. Pace yourself to discourage anxiety and stress; tackle tasks one at a time. Also, be sure to dedicate some time to go over your list and set time aside to relax and pamper yourself. Believe me you will make it through in one piece; enjoy the school year.

The Journey

Posted by admin on Aug 3, 2009 in Uncategorized

The life of a young woman in college can be difficult. Balancing between the academic, social, and spiritual aspect of your life is just one aspect of the struggle. But the balance created, if done wisely, can take away some levels of stress.  Sometimes it may seem impossible to juggle all the other aspects of your life while you are in school, but I have come to realize that with God all things are possible.

Creating this equilibrium ensures proper time management, which in turn generates success in your endeavors.  Every new thing in life takes some getting use to; having a sense of balance will not be any different.  Practice can make perfect.

As a woman to another woman, I want you to know that whatever the situation may be now it is only temporary.  You are a woman who is precious to those around you.  You are someone’s daughter, sister, cousin, niece, grand-child and friend.  In the near future you will be someone’s wife, mother, sister-in-law, or aunty.  At this moment you may be wondering what kind of woman you are: am I a God-fearing woman, am I a woman of strength or am I a woman of faith?  You are a woman who is in dire need of a sound mind.  A sound mind to lift a spirit that may be slowly shattering.  You are God’s precious daughter; He loves you unconditionally.  You do not know what the future holds, but at least it is assuring to know that God holds it.

Do not let your fears wreck your future.  Rest assured that God is in control.  When He is in control what is there to fear?  Do not hold back; give Him your all.  Give Him your heart, your soul, and your mind.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5)
