new It is Still a Beautiful World
There is a word that has been on everyone’s tongue lately. It has been getting more attention than Barack Obama and Brittany Spears combined and it has not been described in the most favorable of terms. Indeed, it is getting very ugly. I am talking about what everyone is talking about – the economy. If you have been following the bill passing action in Congress and the White House over the past month, then you are probably experiencing some form of economania

Scars: Those We Can See and Those We Can’t
When my sister and I were young, she accidentally tipped a hot iron over onto my bare right knee. It was an unpleasant experience, to say the least. Within a few hours I had the largest blister I had ever seen, and for the next few days I had to make every effort not to puncture it for fear of getting it infected. Inevitably, however, the blister broke open. The wound got infected, which left me with a fever for about a day.

Going Back to School? Get Smart About College Spending
It is easy to get bogged down weighing the pros and cons of pursuing a degree.  On one hand the higher your degree the higher your earning potential.  On the other hand the cost of education is rising much faster than inflation.  Depending on the school and degree, tuition, books and other miscellaneous fees can add up.

Go Give: The Art of Monetary Giving
Doesn’t it seem as though television shows and commercials today are saturated with information on the trendiest ways to “Go Green?” After years of taking from the planet and depleting its natural resources, our society has finally realized we need to stop.  Scientists, politicians and everyday consumers have wised up to the idea of giving our time and resources to find ways to fix the mess we have created.

All Hail the African Queen
The passionate, African woman has come from far. In past days, she tilled the land, bore babies, maintained the home and waited for late-night beatings from her husband. She waited in the polygamy line for her sexual rights, and was in some African communities considered no less than a child

African Women: Embracing our Bodies
We now live in an image-crazed society, a behavior that plays a major role in our everyday lives. Women are constantly dieting to improve their outward appearances. But what some may see as an attempt to a healthier life, others consider a growing problem on how we view ourselves. The question is where do African women fit into these statistics?

The Quarterlife Crisis
Morgan is a few months shy of turning twenty-one. Though she has a college degree, she is unsure of what to do next in her life. “I have no idea what I want to do. It's such a big world with so many things to do. Why choose one?”

Mind Your Own Business!
Your friend shares something with you and words run through your mind:  “Wow, I learned something the other day that would be perfect to share now!” These internal dialogues mostly interrupt your listening ability because somehow what you have to say is more important— you could have sworn the person needed to hear it. After all, it is advice; it is wisdom, what sound words need be suppressed, you think to yourself.

More Than Just the Blues: Depression in Black Women
As women, we are expected to wear a plethora of hats: mother, sister, friend, wife, girlfriend, co-worker and so on. Yet, in the midst of trying to play these roles and satisfy others in our lives, we often neglect the people that are most important: ourselves. This often results in us burning ourselves out physically and emotionally. Many of us identify this feeling as “being sick and tired of being sick and tired,” but it is actually more than just a feeling; it is a disease.

Do Not be a Stranger to Yourself; Keep in Step With You
Motivating one's self can sometimes be a very difficult thing, especially with many things going on in different areas of your life. There are some women who desire to do so much with themselves but are unable to; usually a lack of confidence or motivation to blame. Each woman has a different source of inspiration; while some may rely exclusively on themselves to carry out their drive, others depend on a much higher power, God; then there are those who fuse both sources to attain an outcome.
