Celebrating the Obaasema Woman of Three Years
Wow, we hit the three-year mark! When Obaasema hit the web on June 15, 2006, our main goal was to provide valuable information in health, news, entertainment and other areas to the African community. After two years of online presence, that mission graduated to another: the launch of a print version. And this June we celebrated our third year and fourth print issue simultaneously!
I recently created a promotional video for Obaasema and in the process of sharing information I had a slight epiphany: that what we do at Obaasema, our mission, partly revolves around utilizing our talents to inspire others to be great. I perceive the Obaasema woman, to whom our efforts is directed, as one who is inquiring, intelligent, genteel, fun, trendy, spiritual and very passionate about life. In my little mind I do believe that there is an ideal woman in every woman, though possibly identified differently based on individual values and experiences, she still will be an ideal woman in the mind of the definer.
My continued hope is that Obaasema, as a publication, becomes a gem every woman with an “ideal woman” attribute can connect with. You may not possess all of the seemingly “wonderful” worldly labels, but if you are able to grasp your beauty from the perspective of your Maker then I believe you have captured the essence of that “ideal woman” within you. The Obaasema woman does not rest her confidence in the unstable. Neither does she place it in the transient objects of this world. Her confidence, rather, is rooted in the constant, the enduring. Do you get my drift?
In this third year of Obaasema, I invite you to join us as we strut toward the life of a woman whose strong sense of self, worth and purpose are rooted in God because He is the only “Object” that will forever be stable in your life.
Enjoy the issue!
