BIOS

Linda Asare Annan Linda Asare Annan is a journalist and founder of Obaasema Inc. as well as Editor-in-Chief of its flagship publication, Obaasema magazine. She holds a BA in Corporate Communication and Business Journalism from Bernard M. Baruch College, NYC, with extensive background in Public Relations and Marketing. Her passion and interests lie in social issues (especially women-related), spirituality/faith, humanitarianism, traditional literature, poetry, art, entrepreneurship, media, world affairs (particularly Africa), politics and history.
Tricia Ferdinand Tricia Ferdinand is an Editor/writer at Obaasema; she has a bachelor's degree in Communications from Drexel University and is currently pursuing a M.A. in Englishb Literature at the University of Delaware. Her interests include traveling, writing, reading and culture.
Oludele Botchway Oludele Botchway is a contributing writer with a degree in Applied Linguistics and English Literature and resides in Hamburg, Germany.       
Gifty Kwakye Gifty Kwakye is a Health Editor/writer at Obaasema; she is a third year student at Yale University School of Medicine in Connecticut and has an undergraduate degree in joint Biology and Psychology from Yale. Her interests include comedy, photography, cooking, advocacy work and African crafts.
Pietra Dunmore

Pietra Dunmore is a model, clothing designer, licensed hairstylist, make-up artist, writer, and photographer. In addition to working as a model with such established companies as CBS network, Target, Heineken and many others, her clothing line Retrochic By Pietra is carried in two Philadelphia stores, and has been touted as "Best of Philly" in the City Paper and "A-listed" in Philadelphia Weekly. As a hairstylist and make-up artist, Pietra has worked on the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football cheer and dance squad, former Miss Pennsylvania 2002 Autumn Marisa, and 2005 Miss Pennsylvania USA Brenda Kaye.

Pietra has a bachelor's degree in Photography and Creative Writing from Drexel University, and is presently pursuing a master's degree in Creative Writing.

Jesse Masai Jesse Masai is a Kenyan journalist and blogger. He studied Media at Messiah College (PA, USA) and Daystar University (Nairobi, Kenya). He maintains an active interest in African and global media, popular literature, faith and politics.
Paula Odhiambo Paula Odhiambo is a Kenyan-born singer, journalist and anti-tobacco lobbyist based in upstate New York; she is also a Communications student at SUNY Geneseo. She loves to cook, laugh, write, sing, and is especially passionate about her relationship with Jesus Christ, in whose name she oversees a ministry for young, single African women.
Marian Kihogo

Marian Kihogo is a fashion, celebrity and personal stylist. She owns THE HOUSE OF STYLE, which offers styling and shopping services. She has a strong background in Art and Fashion design. She enjoys painting, literature, socialising and people watching in her leisure time. She resides in London, United Kingdom.

Julius Ashirifi-Gogofio Julius Ashirifie-Gogofio is a food scientist with a passion for Nutrition. Born in Ghana, he believes that food is the first medicine our body needs. He graduated from the University of Ghana with a First Class Honours degree in Food Science and Nutrition but also has diverse experience in the field of science and business having worked as a banker, CEO, food scientist and entrepreneur. He was recognized as one of the top 50 Emerging entrepreneurs in Ghana by the Google Foundation and TechnoServe in 2006. In 2007, he was awarded the African Studies Fellowship and the Food Science Graduate Fellowship at the University of California-Davis. He also won the Graduate Fellowship at the Food Science Department at the Penn State University. He writes on issues relating to food safety and nutrition. His passion is to see safe and quality food on our shelves without sacrificed nutrition. He is currently a graduate student at the Penn State University and a member of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). In his spare time he loves mountain climbing, swimming, writing and being engaged in intellectual discussions.
Eboness Belin Eboness Belin is a design enthusiast, fashion industry garmento, and owner of Sheer Bliss Designs, a custom interior and special events design company. As a Fashion Merchandiser, she has worked for companies like Jordache Enterprises, and has spent the last five years producing garments for brands such as New Balance, and the U.S. Polo Association.  She first got her first start in New York City 's garment industry where she studied Fashion at the world renowned Fashion Institute of Technology. Now, as a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas  area, Eboness continues to hone her skills and passion for the Design industry, and is pursuing a degree in Interior Design at the Art Institute. Eboness also has a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Tuskegee University and previously worked in the financial services industry as a Product Manager for Standard & Poor's.
Tracey Ferdinand

Tracey Coretta Ferdinand is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. She has a bachelor's degree from Ursinus College in English. She is interested in Pan-African women's literature, writing, theater and spoken word. She currently works as a marketing director for MRI Consultants.

Lucinda Aku Acquaye is a Ghanaian American from Long Island, New York.  Lucinda holds a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Buffalo, and a Master's in Social Work from Stony Brook University.  Lucinda has advised students on the university level for over 10 years and has plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Social Work.  Lucinda currently resides in Ethiopia where she is fulfilling a one-year contract as an IFESH fellow assisting in the development of a Graduate School program at a newly established University.

Shanelle Thomas Shanelle Thomas is a Beauty Editor at Obaasema Magazine; she holds a BBA in Finance from Bernard M Baruch College, NYC. After working in the financial sector for about six months she decided to pursue her dreams of working in the beauty industry. She entered and won a scholarship contest to attend the Aveda Institute, NYC where she enrolled in their Cosmetology program. She is now a licensed cosmetologist in the state of New York and currently works at the prestigious Mark Garrison salon.
