As an extension of our objective to inspire and empower women, Obaasema magazine has partnered with the Gye Nyame Empowerment Project (GNEP) to create a platform that facilitates this goal: Real African Women (R.A.W.)

Mission Statement

REAL AFRICAN WOMEN (R.A.W.)
Real African Women is a partnership between Obaasema Magazine and the Gye Nyame (pronounced jean yuh-me) Empowerment Project (www.EmpowerMeGNEP.org) that was launched in May 2010. This initiative is a series of real discussions that allows African women to come together to discuss issues pertinent to their experiences as African women growing up and living in the United States or abroad. R.A.W. is about personal growth; it will invite college students and professional women to participate in these discussions in the hopes of unleashing a more confident woman.

Target Audience
African/Pan-African women 18 years and older.

Dates of Forums

Discussions will be held 3 times in a year during the months of May, September and January.

2. Guests MUST come prepared to actively participate in discussions
