2 Constructive Ways of Dealing With Weaknesses

Have you ever beaten yourself up about weaknesses you can’t seem to overcome? Did you know that weaknesses have a purpose in our lives? It is what we do with them and how we confront those weaknesses that determine what shape they form and the roles they play in our lives.

Here are two principles that have worked for me:

  1. See your weaknesses for what they are: Your weaknesses are your weaknesses but they shouldn’t be viewed as mountains that cannot be moved. Instead of assigning negative attributes to them, choose to view them as less perfect sides of you and seize the opportunity to turn them around to make you a better person than you already are. Remember that no one on this earth is perfect, so you shouldn’t destroy yourself for what is less perfect you.
  1. Seek to overcome those weaknesses: One of the things that always works is putting yourself in the other person’s shoes. Most, if not all weaknesses, stem from lack of self-control or have some connection to it. You’re able to face some of these weaknesses when you’ve acknowledged them and refused to allow them to control you.

The goal in any personal growth exercise is to bring out the best in you, even through your weaknesses. The moment weaknesses are viewed as opportunities for growth instead of challenges, they become easy to overcome.
